NFRTR Updates for 4473 Transfers

What's changing with ATF eForms, and how to get your inventory ready now

The Question We're Hearing

One question we've heard a lot this past week, and it's a fair one:

“If I transfer a suppressor using a 4473 instead of a Form 4, how do I update the NFRTR?”

We're currently working on a process to update your NFRTR with the ATF. As soon as that process is available, Silencer Shop will handle the automation for you, so this won't be a manual step on your end.

How To Get Ready Now

1. Keep Your Portal Inventory Current

Make sure your Dealer Portal inventory is current. When you sell an item, mark it as Transferred in either “My Inventory” or “Assign Inventory.”

My Inventory screen with arrow pointing to Mark as Transferred button

My Inventory: click “Mark as Transferred” next to the item you sold.

2. Select the Transfer Reason

You'll be asked to select a reason for the transfer. That reason is what feeds the NFRTR update once the eForms process is live. If the item came from Silencer Shop originally, that reason will already be filled in for you.

Mark as Transferred modal showing the Reason dropdown

Mark as Transferred: Silencer Shop-linked items pre-fill the transfer reason automatically.

Bottom Line - Keeping your inventory marked correctly now means the NFRTR update will happen automatically and accurately once ATF's process is ready, with no extra work required on your part.
