Following the recent ruling in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF, silencers purchased from Silencer Shop can now transfer to your customers without a Form 4 in eligible states. To give you full control over how your store operates, we've added a Form 4 Filings setting to your account — and you can update it yourself, no call-in required.
Update Your Form 4 Filing Preference
You no longer need to call in to change whether you file Form 4s or 4473s. Update your preference directly from Account Settings, or use the shortcut link shown on your My Inventory or Assign Inventory pages.
Depending on your current setting, you'll see one of these messages on My Inventory or Assign Inventory, each with a link to change it:
Shown when your FFL is currently filing Form 4s
Shown when your FFL is not currently filing Form 4s
Update It from Account Settings
Log in to the Dealer Portal
Navigate to My Account > Account
Scroll roughly halfway down to the Form 4 Filings section
Check (or uncheck) the box for "Keep filing Form 4s"
Account Settings — Form 4 Filings
Before the change takes effect, you'll see a summary of what will happen and be asked to confirm:
Confirmation shown when choosing to keep filing Form 4s
Confirmation shown when choosing to stop filing Form 4s
⚠ A Word of Caution Switching this preference back and forth can trigger emails to your customers, since it updates the preference tied to their order. Try to avoid toggling it repeatedly. We're also working on the ability to set this preference per order or per serial number, for even more control down the road. |
Which States Require a Form 4?
Form 4 requirements vary by state under the current ruling. For the full state-by-state breakdown, see NFA Ruling Update: What It Means for You, as a Dealer.
Marking Items as Transferred
If you're not filing Form 4s and need to mark an item as transferred to a customer, you can do so directly from your inventory:
Navigate to Inventory > My Inventory
Search for the applicable Serial Number (S/N)
Hit the Mark as Transferred button
Inventory > My Inventory
Confirm the details, then select Mark as Transferred
Undo an Accidental Transfer
Marked something as transferred by mistake? You can now fix it yourself — no support call needed. Selecting Undo Transfer reverts the serial number back to Available.
You'll see an "Undo Transfer" button next to any item marked Transferred on My Inventory:
Undo Transfer appears next to any item marked Transferred
Selecting it confirms the item will go back to Available:
Confirming reverts the serial number to Available
Bottom Line — both updates put routine account maintenance in your hands. Change your Form 4 preference whenever you need to, and undo a mis-marked transfer in a couple of clicks — no waiting on a call back.
